Affordable Produce Program | Plumas County Public Health
In collaboration with the Plumas County Department of Public Health, we offer heavily subsidized produce for veterans, low-income individuals, or community members who otherwise identify as food insecure in an effort to support our underserved populations in Plumas County. In exchange for weekly credit to use at the Honor System Fridge or Tuesday evening Farm Stands, recipients can choose to volunteer 10 hours on the farm and participate in 3 cooking/nutrition classes, or in lieu of volunteering, pay a subsidized amount.
Lost Sierra Food Project also works with Plumas Unified School District and Local Food Banks and wellness centers to increase access to locally grown, nutritious produce.
Food Smarts | Alternative Sentencing
We host a 6 week program which provides nutrition education and cooking classes to participants in probation, many of whom struggle with substance abuse and mental health issues.
Summer Search | Sierra Nevada Journeys
During summer programming, we provide food justice workshops for first-generation BIPOC students from the Bay Area.
