Feather River College
Ecological Farming Certificate
The Ecological Farming Certificate is an affordable, year-long certification program based out of our local community college, Feather River College. The certificate focuses on gaining small scale farming techniques and food education and production knowledge through a combination of lectures, seminars, guest presentations, and on-the-farm learning techniques.

Feather River College Student Employment Program
Partnering with Feather River College’s Work Study program, we employ summer interns and seasonal or year round student work study employees to work in our greenhouse located at Feather River College and/or to work with us at Rugged Roots Farm.

Plumas County Public Health
Affordable Produce Program
In collaboration with the Plumas County Department of Public Health, we offer heavily subsidized produce for veterans, low-income individuals, or community members who otherwise identify as food insecure in an effort to support our underserved populations in Plumas County.

UC Berkeley GrizzlyCorps
GrizzlyCorps Fellowship
GrizzlyCorps is an AmeriCorps and California Volunteers program designed by Project Climate at UC Berkeley’s Center for Law, Energy, and the Environment that sends recent college graduates into rural communities across California to promote regenerative agri-food systems and fire and forest resilienc over the course of 11 months. Our Grizzly Corps Fellow for 2024-25 is Marielle Fehrenbacher.

Sierra Nevada Journeys
Summer Search
Sierra Nevada Journeys works in partnership with Summer Search, a national nonprofit that works to unleash students’ potential through mentoring and transformative experiences, to provide an engaging and empowering two-week outdoor excursion for Bay Area youth.
During summer programming, we host Sierra Nevada Journey’s Summer Search groups and lead a farm tour, prepare a hands-on team project, and discuss topics of food justice.

Plumas Charter School
CTE Agriculture Pathway
We run a vocational learning program for high school students wishing to pursue a career in Agriculture. In addition to this educational programming, we host a paid summer internship program where high school students spend two days per week at Rugged Roots Farm.

Feather River Food Co-op
Quincy Farmers Market
When our local Co-op began efforts to restart the Quincy Farmers Market, we joined as a member of the planning committee. The committee’s purpose is to support the revitalization of the Quincy Farmers Market and to promote local, sustainable agriculture and community nutrition, to energize our economy by fostering the exchange of high quality, fresh, regional products, and to establish the market event as a means to facilitate the expression of local art, culture and education.
